Facebook Launches Instant Articles

By  |  7 Comments

Today Facebook launches Instant Articles. This is its long-rumored initiative for its app to host articles from publishers so they load immediately in the app, rather than forcing someone to click out and wait for a website to load. The program will start with launch partners including The New York Times, BuzzFeed, and National Geographic. Not only will their stories load up to 10X faster in the feed, they’ll also be able to use rich media embeds like audio-captioned photos and zoomable video.

This is absolute BS. Links don't take that long to load. It's just a data grab from Facebook who are trying to centralize everything into their walled garden. It solves no problems for the user and hopefully it'll die out

Will Facebook feature be an iOS only too? Just like Facebook Paper & Hyperlapse?

"The experience for opening an article is really slow, you wait on average over 8 seconds for an article to load" … lol, oh how the world has changed
